AZUB recumbent in the world highest road pass

Khardung-La is pretty known pass just 40 kilemeters away from Leh, Ladakh, India. It is called as the highest motorable pass all over the world with height of 5350 meters above the sea level. Our marketing manager Honza Galla has travelled with his wife in Indian Himalayas fro three weeks with AZUB Mini and AZUB trike (both folding prototypes) and he managed to reach this pass with the AZUB Mini. It took him 9 hours and later only one and half hours to get back to Leh.

Annual Czech Recumbent Meeting

There is a recumbent meeting in the Czech Republic every year in mid September. It is always nice to see all the friendly recumbent riders and AZUB owners. Year by year more and more participants appear and this year there were 115 recumbents and more than 130 participants. And still more and more of them are from abroad so we can already call it International Recumbent Meeting in Czech. Here you can see only very few pictures from two rides and video will come soon.

Every year the organizer is different and also the place is different. This year we were close to Dvur Kralove nad Labem. AZUB will celebrate 10 years in 2010 and we are already working on big recumbent meeting which should be a celebration of AZUB birthday. We expect to organise couple of rides incl. night ride, little recumbent orenteering, trike and snail race, couple of slide shows and video presentations, visit of local brewery, singing, vine tasting, visit of archeological place etc. etc. Simply four days full of joy, recumbents and recumbent rider´s talking:-)

We hope to meet you all here in Uhersky Brod and we hope you will come with your friends and families. Not only AZUB bents are welcomed but also all other brands, homebuilds, velomobiles, trikes etc. And if your partners do not have recumbent? Doesn´t matter, we have all started with uprights, so also they will be welcomed as usual.

How the AZUB stand on SPEZI 2009 was painted

Many of you have seen the special stand which we had on SPEZI show in Germersheim (Germany) this year. It was painted by our friend Ivan Kremecek. He usualy works for czech famous joke magazine Trnky Brnky but time to time he paints also some bottles, t-shirt etc. as a gifts. And he felt in love with body painting too, which we understand very well.

He told that our stand was his biggest work in last couple of years. As the basic we used the boxes in which our recumbents are delivered all around the world to our customers. On the last picture you can see how the stand looked during the SPEZI with all the friends and AZUB emploees who were there.

AZUB Bufo built from frame set

Long time I was looking for a bike for „all-day-use“ -and I found it, it’s the „Azub Bufo“.

I decided for an Azub because of the IPS, I can adjust the seat in very short time, so that my sons also can use the bike. The next point was the position of the gear and break-shifters. Azub is the only bike where the position is the same as on upright bikes. – And it looks very fine!

I purchased a frame kit directly at Azub (with carrier, stand and spinner grind fork) and equipped the bike with the Sram Dual Drive 3×8, Avid V-brakes, Schwalbe „Big Apple“ tires, Shimano hub-dynamo and B&M lights.

I tested the bike at a 3-day-trip through the „Taubertal“, two days in rain and only one day with sunshine. I’m very satisfied with the bike and think I will have many happy hours with it.
